Use of carbon dioxide (CO2) in growing.
In this article, we will focus on CO2 (carbon dioxide). CO2 is a gas that has no color, smell or taste. In our atmosphere it is represented in 0.040% (412.5ppm). Green plants breathe CO2 during the day and emit O2 (oxygen), at night they need more oxygen. If we grow flowers indoors or in a tent, it is always better to add extra CO2, as there may not be enough inside. For example, when CO2 drops to 150ppm, growth can slow down by up to 30-40%. On the contrary, when the concentration is increased to 500ppm, the plants grow about 20% faster and at a concentration of 1000ppm up to 50% faster. 1000ppm is also the maximum recommended concentration. Also, let's not forget that the more light plants have, the more CO2 they consume. Be careful CO2 and light are very related, if the plants do not have enough CO2, their growth is slowed down and the efficiency of the lamps is reduced. Now let's get acquainted with how to measure and add CO2.
Measurement:
In our shop we have two CO2 monitors ready for our customers.
Mini CO2 Monitor: This is a simple device that can measure CO2 concentration and temperature. The device must always be connected to the electric power supply.
Sturm CO2 Monitor: Newer CO2 monitor. This CO2 monitor has its own battery, so it may not always be in the power supply. This monitor measures CO2, temperature and now also humidity.
CO2 concentrates
We have various CO2 products in our shop. From tablets and sachets to electronic dispensers.
CO2 Tabs no Mercy: These are tablets that are added to water. The tablets dissolve and nourish your plants within about 6 hours. The manufacturer recommends one tablet per 100 liters.
CO2 GIB tablets: These tablets with slow dissolution and high concentration are very effective. We can use them in any system. One tablet is enough for 50 liters of water.
Smart CO2 Grower Bag: The cheapest CO2 on the market. The bag is filled with mycelia (fungi), which consume oxygen and emit CO2. One bag is enough for 5-15m2 and will last about 4 months.
CO2 bag generator ExHale 4/6 plant: Gradually releases CO2 into the air. This bag is recommended for a space of 1.2 m2 or for 4-6 plants. The bag will last us about 6 months.
Airbomz MAXI CO2: This refilled CO2 dispenser is one of the best. Dispenses CO2 according to your settings. This filling lasts up to 30 days and fits into a 120x120 tent.
